Been too busy to keep up with the boards for the last week but after reading most of the posts everyone still seems hung up on the mystery and the money. So here goes.
Job - Has the word CHAOS tattooed across his stomach. The A within a circle stands for "Comic Code Authority." CHAOS is a Marvel group. In another episode, there is a spider tattooed on his stomach. In the last episode when Mary is delivering the Bible, the word Candu is tattooed on his neck. Candu is the nuclear reactor that produced the spider that turned Peter Parker into Spiderman.
Watermark - stands for HYDRA. A world wide organization of bad guys that use numbers to id themselves instead of names. The sheriff tells them to "stay hydrated." First appearance in Strange Tales #135 ( this is part of Jim's license plate). Too many water references to list.
Sloman - "Kingpin" was once a member of HYDRA. He sat in a 'throne like chair', is surrounded by lots of red and gold (royalty?). Jim tells him 'I now know you will cross the line.' I think that means the red line in bowling. They show his ring in two different episodes but I couldn't make it out but I'll bet it looks like a crown. Kingpin had a son called "The Rose." If all the roses don't represent the son, then I think they refer to "The Rose of Versailles" comic book produced in Japan, hence, the red dragon room at the casino and the Pachino pinball machine that Shadrack used.
Jim - When Jim is in Silas' office, the horns over the door are behind Jim's head. Daredevil has horns. Daredevil is a lawyer - high standards and morals, the possible reason behind his lecture to Silas. His father states "We Profrocks are fearless" or something to that effect. Daredevil's wife was a dope addict that left him. Daredevil, Man Without Fear, comes out on Valentines Day (hearts) and stars Ben Affleck. In the last episode, while Jim is on the ground, his eye 'sparkles,' Daredevil is blind. ' Jim ends up with a 'reserved' parking spot. Daredevil was once framed by Kingpin and Daredevil had to 'clear his name. Along with the morse code, there was some in braille also. In the end, Sloman asks "Who are you?"
Daredevils home base is Hells Kitchen.
Every name used can be connected to comic books and every scene is connected in some way. George Prufrock was a character in a Marvel series. When Jim visits Blackwells, there is a display board showing a Croatian service. Darko Macan is a Croatian writer for Daredevil. Why mention Marie Calender's pies? Hostess fruit pie was a regular advertiser in Marvel comics. Reference to Bali (can't remember the episode) is located off the east end of Java = coffee = cup of Joe = Joe Quesada = Daredevil writer. Eggo waffles contained Spiderman sticker sheets promoting the movie.
There are numerous clues to other Marvel characters, I believe the tattoo artist represents Ghost Rider, there is a shield in the sheriff's office that is blank and then appears with something on it. SHIELD is a Marvel group. The sheriff was making fishing lures. There were Daredevil fishing lures on the market at one time. Someone on one of the boards mentioned the Joshua Trees that Jim keeps driving past. There is a Comic Book Area (rock climbing) in Joshua State Park. (drop the rocks, it's a long walk up hill).
I believe the original clues represent the Daredevil movie. The amount 1045 = MVL which stands for Marvel in the NY stock exchange. Television = Daredevil's vision, Orange could be Hells Kitchen, Peter Pan is a childlike character which also represents Michael Clarke Duncan's (he's in the Daredevil movie) role in The Green Mile, one of the commercials advertised. Alias star Jennifer Garner is also in the Daredevil movie - that might be the G clue.
PS: Did anyone see the 3 goofy characters lurking behind Jim while he was counting the cards and did anyone notice the volcano behind Jim's boyhood house while he was climbing into the car? I've still got lots of questions and no answers but I'm sure they would connect to comic books! |
